Davina Sowers and the Vagabonds have created a stir on the national blues scene with their high-energy live shows, sharp-dressed professionalism, and Sowers’ commanding stage presence. So much more than just a blues act, DATV’s shows are filled with New Orleans charm, Memphis soul swagger, dark theatrical moments that evoke Kurt Weill, and tender gospel passages. Davina’s voice and stage presence defy category in a different way. Davina has been compared to Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Billie Holiday and Betty Boop, but comparisons don’t suffice: Sowers is a true original. Opening act is local favorite, Boogie Shoes. (Austin Johnson & Jake Loggins)

The recent record-breaking PBS-TV music specials, “50 Years of Doo-Wop” were so well received that it created a new showcase and new audiences for veteran Doo-Wop artists, resulting in additional PBS-TV specials.  Now these original artists, whose combined sales number over 200 million records, are back on the road performing live, treating concertgoers to the songs they danced to at sock hops, while allowing younger audiences to discover that Doo-Wop is feel-good music no matter what your age.  This music is like a first love that no one ever forgets.  Nothing is more memorable than a first love.

An impressive list of those original artists who will be part of The Ultimate Doo-Wop Show are: Jimmy Clanton (Just a Dream, Venus in Blue Jeans, Go Jimmy Go), Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs (Stay, Little Darlin’, Gloria, I Remember), The Edsels (Rama Lama Ding Dong), Barbara Harris, original lead singer of The Toys (Lover’s Concerto, Attack), Chris Montez (Let’s Dance, The More I See You, Call Me), The Cookies (Chains, Don’t Say Nothin’ Bad about My Baby, Will Power), Dodie Stevens (Tan Shoes and Pink Shoelaces, Yes-Sir-ee, No), The Blue Suede Orchestra (Buzz, Buzz, Buzz).

We are very excited about bringing this show to Colorado Springs!

Unlike the PBS specials you've seen, we will have a DANCE FLOOR! We know so many of you will want to get up and dance to the songs you remember so well.

Candye Kane - 8:00

20918 HWY 24
Woodland Park Colorado 80863
US 719-687-7879

The snow in March forced the cancellation of Candye's show. There's not much chance of that happening in August.

Candye Kane has been called a survivor, a superhero and the toughest girl alive. (All are also titles of her self-penned songs.) They are apt descriptions of the jump blues singer, songwriter who has earned this moniker the hard way. Nominated for five National Blues Foundation Awards (Best Contemporary Blues Female 2011) winner of ten San Diego Music Awards, starring in a sold out stage play about her life and beating down pancreatic cancer, Kane is one tough cookie!

K.J. Braithwaite (Acoustic and Electric Guitar, Mandolin, Lead Vocals), Joe Uveges (Acoustic guitar and Lead Vocals), and Jim Sokol (Vocals) have been performing together in various artistic collaborations for more than 20 years. Originally, they formed a band called 'Amicus' which played the Front Range of Colorado for 10 years. The sound was a mix of cover and original material in the folk/rock/rockabilly tradition. After spending time apart and each creating their own music, they are together again to recreate the magic - part harmony, part country rock drive, and all fun-loving party music.

These talented musicians combine the harmonies of Crosby, Stills, and Nash with a mix of country-folk rock tunes to create a marriage of styles that makes for an eclectic evening of vocal and instrumental sensations.

Bassist Charlie Wooten and drummer Yonrico Scott: both heavyweight names in their own right, with Charlie’s bass chops celebrated on the Southern jam scene for his sets with the Woods Brothers, and Yonrico hitting the skins for luminaries including the Derek Trucks Band, Gregg Allman and the Allman Brothers themselves.

Woodland Park Colorado 80863
US 719-687-7879

Jimmy Hall was born in Birmingham, Alabama and raised in Mobile by a musical family steeped in gospel tradition. At the age of 20, he moved to Macon, Georgia with his newly formed band, Wet Willie, and was signed by Capricorn Records. Hall shared the studio and stage with artists such as The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jeff Beck Group, Grand Funk Railroad, and a host of others while Wet Willie gained the reputation as one of the hardest working bands on the road. Gregg Allman once said that Hall “…is the hardest man to follow on stage that I ever worked with”. As Wet Willie helped to create the Southern Rock genre they scored a major radio success with Keep on Smiling. This record solidified their place in rock and roll history, and Wet Willie’s hits are still being played on the radio today. Jimmy also sang with Jeff Beck, helping him win a Grammy for "FLASH".

Kate Moss is a talented guitarist who is no stranger to blues fans in Colorado. She's been seen performing at Winter Park's Blues from the Top, The Toad Tavern in Denver and at the Blue Star Connection Festival. You might have seen her sit in with Trampled Under Foot, Girls With Guitars or remember her as the original bassist in her husband Nick Moss' band! Yup! THAT Kate Moss.
